Fall is hands down my favorite season for curling up with a good book. With September just weeks away, it's time to start building my fall 2025 reading list with the most anticipated fantasy romance releases of the season.

Fall 2025 is packed with incredible new romantasy releases from both debut and bestselling authors. Whether you're looking for enemies-to-lovers tropes, a dark academia setting, or dark fantasy, this season has something for every reader.

Here are ten must-read adult and YA fantasy romance books releasing in fall 2025 are on my TBR pile.

First in Series & Standalones

Thorn Season by Kiera Azar

I read this book as an ARC and absolutely loved it! This book had it all — a lush setting, complicated court politics, and the most entertaining banter I’ve ever read. This one is a must read!

Summary: In the kingdom of Daradon, a persecuted few are Wielders, in possession of a magical specter—a shimmering thread that can extend beyond their visible body to give a loving caress, pick a lock…even kill. Feared for this ability, Wielders have always been Hunted. Alissa Paine, heiress and daughter of a Hunter family…is also a Wielder. At eighteen, Alissa knows she’s escaped execution thus far only due to painful self-control and the efforts of her beloved father. Summoned to the harsh and glittering royal court for the debutante season, Alissa finds herself caught in a web of intrigue and betrayal—and caught between two equally dangerous men: One, a brutal ruler with the handsome face of a fairy-tale prince, who would destroy her if he knew the truth—and the other, a beguiling foreign ambassador with secret agendas of his own. With the threat of discovery lurking around every corner—and romance becoming an increasingly dangerous temptation—Alissa will find that she has more to lose than her secrets. It’s Rose Season at the palace, but to survive she’ll need to become the most vicious of thorns. Publishing September 2, 2025

Spellcaster by Jaymin Eve

Summary: When my magic bloomed at twenty-two, the last thing I expected was to receive an acceptance letter to the most prestigious witch college in the world. It’s not that I don’t have magic. It’s just…unpredictable. But with Weatherstone a part of my family legacy, I’m determined to live up to their expectations. A task that’s almost derailed on my very first day when I come face-to-face with Logan Kingston, the son of my father’s enemy. I’m warned to avoid the powerful spellcaster at all costs, but apparently Logan did not receive the same memo. The more time I spend around him, the more I crave his unsettling attention, and as hate flirts with obsession, I’m left wondering if there’s another side to the decades-old feud between our fathers. On top of that, Weatherstone is not at all like I expected. Built on the ancient blood of necromancers and battle, the magic here is as unpredictable as mine, and I sense a dark energy stalking my footsteps. When a monster attacks me, I have no choice but to turn to the strongest warlock in our school: Logan. After all, to fight a monster, I’ll need a monster. Publishing September 23, 2025

Alchemy of Secrets by Stephanie Garber

It’s been too long without a Stephanie Garber book on my TBR! I loved both the Caraval and Once Upon a Broken Heart Series by her, so I’m excited for her adult debut.

Summary: Folklore 517: Local Legends and Urban Myths, taught by a woman called the Professor. Most students believe the Professor’s stories are just fiction, but Holland St. James has always been convinced that magic is real. When she tracks down a local legend named the Watch Man, who can supposedly tell you when you’ll die, the world finally makes sense. Except that the Watch Man tells her she will die at midnight tomorrow unless she finds an ancient object called the Alchemical Heart. With the clock ticking, Holland is pulled deeper into this magical world in the heart of Los Angeles—and into the path of a magnetic stranger. Everything about him feels like a bad idea, but he promises Holland that her sister sent him to protect her. As they chase clues and stories that take them closer to the Alchemical Heart, Holland realizes everyone in this intoxicating new world is lying to her, even this stranger. And if she can’t figure out whom to trust, not even the Alchemical Heart will save her. Publishing October 7, 2025.

Fallen Stars Imani Erriu

Fallen Stars by Imani Erriu

I absolutely loved the first in this series, Heavenly Bodies. The celestial inspired setting and gods system drew me in immediately. The romance is my favorite example of good yearning and a well done enemies-to-lovers.

Crowntide Alex Aster

Crowntide by Alex Aster

I have to come clean, the Lightlark series is my guilty pleasure. It’s the type of series I turn to when I want a quick read without needing a lot of brain power. Plus this series has the longest lasting love triangle known to man and I need to know how it resolves.

Summary: Some worlds deserve to be destroyed . . .Isla Crown has charted a new destiny and leapt into the unknown, determined to defeat her insidious ancestor, Lark, no matter the cost. But Skyshade is nothing like she anticipated, and she’ll have to use all of her skills just to survive, let alone end Lark for good. But getting her back will involve forging an alliance—if they can find a way to forgive their long history of betrayals. The key to Isla’s return—and the fate of the realms—lies close to her heart. But in the face of her most powerful enemy yet, will Isla be able to reconcile her past in order to carve a future of her own making? Publishing December 2, 2025.

The Rebel and the Rose Catherine Doyle

The Rebel & The Rose by Catherine Doyle

The first book, The Dagger & the Flame, was so much fun to read. It is an enemies-to-lovers romantasy with secret societies and a heart-wrenching cliffhanger. I’ve thought about it book at least once a week since I read it last year and I can’t wait for it’s sequel.

Summary: From a remote hilltop haven, far from the city of Fantome, Seraphine Marchant and her Order of Flames plot to eradicate shade magic with lightfire. But as Sera struggles to control her blooming powers, destiny calls her back to Fantome—and to the assassin who haunts her dreams. Ransom Hale can’t get Sera out of his head. As their rivalry grows and he grapples with the responsibility of leading the Order of Daggers, he feels himself slipping further from who he wants to be. Is he doomed to a life in the shadows? Or can he forge another path? Meanwhile, rebellion is stirring in the kingdom, and a dangerous prince grows in power. Forced to work together by order of the king, Sera and Ransom’s conflicted hearts are tested to their limits. And all the while, an ancient prophecy is unfolding that will change the fate of Valterre forever… Publishing December 2, 2025

Hope you found some good books to add to your fall TBR! Feel free to check out my shelves on Goodreads that I use to track upcoming releases. It’s by no means exhaustive, but hopefully you find some good books to look forward to.

Happy reading!
